A first transport plane with urgently needed goods flew to India on 1 May, carrying 120 ventilators as well as medicines to treat COVID‑19 patients. India is badly affected by the pandemic: the country is seeing over 300,000 new cases a day. Germany is providing support in this difficult situation.
The 6th German‑Chinese intergovernmental consultations focused on tackling global challenges and further expanding the wide‑ranging cooperation between China and Germany. Due to restrictions in connection with the pandemic, the consultations were held in a purely virtual format.
During Slovak Foreign Minister Korčok’s visit to Berlin, Maas reaffirmed the close cooperation between the two countries; the two men also discussed COVID-19, Ukraine and the Western Balkans.
